JANUARY 2006 RE-VISIT
OK, back for a second look a year later at a site we previously
thought was the best lesbian site on the Internet and gave it our top
rating.
Well,
it's
still
the
best
lesbian
site
on
the
Internet,
and
it
still
gets
a
top
rating.
But
that
doesn't
mean
we
don't
have
a
few
complaints.
In
fact
we
have
more
than
a
few.
It's
just
that
they're
not about
anything
very
important.
What's
important
is
this:
The
site
is
continuing
to
update
five
days
a
week
with
top-notch
content,
most
of
it
exclusive
(they
do
license
a
bit
of
stuff).
The
site
stats
are
posted
right
on
the
main
tour
page
and
they
update
all
the
time,
but
for
what
it's
worth here
is
what
they
had
when
we
dropped
in:
81,000
pics
(50,000
exclusive),
with
a
standard
pics
size
of
1200x800.
579
models.
113
hours
of
video
(100
of
which
is
exclusive).
As
for
video
quality,
that's
improving
as
well.
Here's
what
Bailey
(the
photographer/webmaster)
has
to
say:
"Over
a
year

movie.
Now
I'm
shooting
in
HI-DEFINITION
and
doing
those
movies
at

are
also

in

versions
and
cut
into
clips
of
around
3-5
minutes
each.

the
315
movies
are
640x480
or
larger
and
I'm
going
back
and
re-doing
the
older
movies
as
time
permits."
The HD stuff appears to have started in the Fall of 2005, but they've
already got quite a bit of it up. It looks great (of course), and the
fact is even the old stuff is pretty darn good. The models are terrific
(with
no
tattoos!),
the
content
is
an
excellent
mix
of
pussy
and
ass-eating,
strap-on
action,
and
toy-play,
and
the
sets
are
a
reasonably
good
selection
of
multiple
models
and
one-on-one
in
different
settings
and
costumes.
So:
lots
of
exclusive
content,
regular
and
frequent
updates,
great
models,
high
quality
video
. .
.
it's
a
great
package.
And
when
you
compare
it
to
most
of
the
other
lesbian
sites
out
there,
which
are
usually
just
reality-porn
ghetto
trash,
it
really
stands
alone.
But
since
we
are
critics,
here's
our
list
of
things
not
to
like:

We
said
this
in
our
previous
review
and
we're
saying
it
again:
Why
can't
we
download
shorter
clips
of
the
high-res
videos?
The
640x480
stuff
here
comes
in
5-minute
clips,
but
for
the
HD
960x540
movies
you
have
to
download
the
full
20-30
minute
movie,
which
is
usually
a
250-300
meg
file.
We
always
like
to
have
the
option
of
either
downloading
a
full
movie
or a
clip.
And
it's
also
nice
if
the
individual
clips
are
thumbnailed,
as
they
aren't
here.

The latest diary entry
from
Bailey
was almost two months
previous
to
our
visit.
And
all
the
most
recent
entries
were
just
notes
as
to
what
clips
had
been
re-encoded.
And why, when you click on
the
diary,
do you begin with the oldest
entries first and have to keep going page-by-page through the older
entries
to
get
to the latest?
It
really
doesn't
look
like
there's
any
point
keeping
this
feature.
We'd be inclined to just can
it.
And
maybe
add
a
messageboard?
There
doesn't
seem
to
be
much
in
the
way
of
members
interaction
here.

with

ads
on
the
main
members
page? Tsk,
tsk.

searching
for
a
model
why
not
just
have
an
alphabetical
list
instead
of
numbered
pages?
It
took
us
five
tries
to
land
on
the
right
page
looking
for
a
model
whose
name
we
already
knew
(which
should
have
made
it
easy).
The
site
could
also
use
a
more
advanced
search
function
(something
we
mentioned
a
year
ago).

girls
still
aren't
talking.
This
is a
shame
since
the
movies
have
natural
sound,
which
we
like,
and
we
would
like
to
hear
the
girls
saying
some
dirty
shit
to
each
other.
Unfortunately
this
is
something
they
may
not
be
able
to
fix,
as
most
of
the
talent
is
apparently
European
and
they
don't
speak
English.
This
also
puts
limits
on
what
can
be
done
as
far
as
telling
little
stories
etc.
You're
not
going
to
see
it.
The
emphasis
here
is
all
on
the
sex.
Those
are
the
negatives,
and
we'd
be
remiss
not
to
give
them
to
you.
But
in
the
past
year
we
still
haven't
seen
a
better
pure
lesbian
site
than
this.
We
can
think
of
ways
it
could
be
better,
but
they
might
not
change
until
they
get
some
competition.
DECEMBER 2004 REVIEW
When we first checked out this site 18 months ago it was really just
getting started. But we still loved it. A lot has changed since then,
especially in terms of the "industry standards" of Internet
porn. On our re-visit we're happy to say that Sapphic Erotica has kept
pace with the times and is still offering the best original all-girl
material around.
Sapphic Erotica is a site featuring, naturally enough, a lot of
amateur lesbian action. (A learned
aside: Sapphos was a Greek poet who lived on the island of Lesbos--get
it?--and wrote some girl-girl poetry around the sixth century BC.)
The number of really good amateur sites available,
featuring high quality photography (defining high quality in terms of
the technical basics like size, clarity, lighting, etc., not necessarily
referring to artistic merit), lots of video,
and exclusive models (albeit sometimes not the best looking models), is
enough to make a porn lovers heart break with joy. This particular site is run by a personable fellow named
"Bailey". In the early days he licensed some material, but our
understanding is that everything now is exclusive. We did
notice that Bailey seems to be collaborating a lot with Sal, the video
producer from Little Mutt.
They have a very similar vision of porn, so if you like what either of
these sites is doing you should also check out the other. (By the same
reasoning, if you don't like Little Mutt-style amateur porn, you might
not groove to this.)
The site is growing very nicely. Bailey was up to nearly 200 videos
when we visited most recently, all between 15 and 30 minutes. The newer
ones can
be downloaded in a series of short (20-30 meg) mpeg clips or as full high resolution
(640x480, 1000 kb/s playback) wmv movies (apparently Bailey is going
back and re-formatting the older ones as well). Be advised that the full
high-res movies are
large files,
usually in the 230-250 meg range. And they aren't broken into
clips (why not?). So
you'd better have a fast connection. The photos are excellent--large
(1000x800) and very bright and clear. Technical info, and samples, are
all available on the main page before you join.
This guy has serious standards when it comes to quality. The
galleries can all be downloaded in zip files, which is helpful given how
large (both in terms of pic size and number of pics) they are. The site
navigation is basically done through a model index (180 different ones)
or just chronological listings of the photosets and videos.
As for content: This is lesbian love. Sometimes you get a bit of
solo, but mostly it's girls in groups of two, three, or four going at
it. The models are definitely part of the teen niche: young, skinny, natural, and very fresh looking. No boob jobs, few
tattoos or piercings. Where do you find girls like this nowadays?
Where
do you think? Eastern Europe, of course. Bailey is now using a lot of
Czechoslovakian talent. This isn't a big deal since, for what we suppose
are aesthetic reasons, he doesn't like the girls talking. Or even making
much noise. This is a bit disappointing, but we do give him credit for
having good quality all-natural sound. You won't hear any dirty talk,
but you will hear lots of moaning and crying and licking noises.
They kiss a lot, go down on each
other a lot (including analingus), and use fingers, fists, and a wide variety of
toys. One thing we have to give
Bailey credit for is how well he does lesbian kissing. The models really
lock lips, whether kissing on the mouth or performing oral. They
seem hungry for each other. That passion makes a lot of the sets
ignite. In addition, there are some slight attempts being made to give the
encounters a narrative context, or setting, that helps with the fantasy. This doesn't
occur all the time, nor should it, but it does show some imagination,
and gets us away from those awful "behind-the-scenes" video
shoots that are a staple of so many studio sites. The videos also seem
to be without a lot of editing, but in our opinion a lot of that is
overdone anyway.
Now, to be just a bit critical:
The sex itself is hot, but never what we would call nasty. The site
is called "Sapphic Erotica", not "Dirty Dyke
Whores." This seems to be an expression of Bailey's own vision of
lesbian porn, and we don't knock it. Some experimentation with the dark
side, however, might be fun. Describing one video shoot, for example, he
says the models "like to talk dirty and use toys in real life. I
asked them to tone it down."
Tone it down? Heavens forefend! We'd be asking them to
turn it up! What's wrong with a little trash talk anyway? At least, in
that video, they get really, really wet.
Bailey also has appalling taste in clothes and interior decoration.
The Wicked Weasel bikinis were nice in the pool
shoots, and the bathrobes
were very sweet, but the rest of the clothes looked bad. And the sets
are nothing special either.
Site design has improved quite a bit, but a more advanced model
search function, like at Simon
Scans would be nice.
At the time of our re-visit the re-design was just nearing
completion, so things were still a little unfinished. Hopefully Bailey
will be updating his diary more often and maybe start giving us some
extras like a forum.
Our summary judgment is very positive. This site has a lot of
exclusive content and is adding new stuff at a rapid rate. Updates occur
five days a week, often with two new videos a week!
Technical standards are very high. The video quality is excellent, and gets outside the
"behind-the-scenes" studio box. If you have a lesbian fetish
we recommend it very highly.
